Social Networking

More than 500 Million people in the world use the social network facebook. Isn't that amazing? I'm wondering how many people actually use the English language for communicating on the social network. Usually people have friends from all over the world. Take me for example: Friends of mine include people from Germany, Switzerland, France, USA, Puerto Rico and some more countries. It definitely is easier to stay in touch with these people using the internet. Still I don't really appreciate social networks 'cause they're starting to replace face-to-face communication. At least that's how I feel. But even if I tried to resist the temptation of joining the network and logging in every day to see what's new - I couldn't. What about you? What do you think of social networks? Do you use them and if so, for what reason? Does it in any way contribute to your language learning?
